Teleprompter.com Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what information Teleprompter.com collects, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It covers our website at teleprompter.com, our web app at app.teleprompter.com, and our iOS, macOS, and Android apps.

Who we are

Teleprompter.com is operated by Teleprompter Kft., Podmaniczky utca 57. II. em. 14., 1064 Budapest, Hungary. For any privacy question you can reach us at support@teleprompter.com.

What information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and a password, which is stored in hashed form, or an identifier from the sign-in provider you choose, such as Apple or Google. We also store your plan, your subscription status, and the settings you choose in the app.

Script and folder content

Teleprompter.com is a place to write and store scripts, so the service stores the content you put into it:

the full text of every script you write, import, or generate;
script titles, and the names and structure of the folders you organise them into;
documents you import, for example Word, PDF, or plain text files, and files you connect from Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud;
videos you record in the app, together with any captions or transcripts generated from them.

This content belongs to you. We store it so that it syncs between your devices. We do not sell it and we do not use it to train our own models. Our staff only access it if you explicitly ask us to as part of a support request.

Usage and device information

We collect the type of device and operating system you use, the app or browser version, your IP address, crash reports, and which features you use, so that we can fix problems and decide what to build next.

Payment information

Subscriptions are billed by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Paddle, depending on where you subscribe. Those providers handle your payment details. We receive only the confirmation, the plan you bought, and the details needed for invoicing and accounting. We never see or store full card numbers.

How we use your information

to provide the service, which means storing your scripts, syncing them across your devices, and recording video;
to process payments, renewals, and refunds;
to answer support requests and send service notices;
to understand which features are used so that we can improve the product;
to keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and meet our legal and accounting obligations;
to send product news where you have opted in. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.

How long we keep your data

Account data and script content. Kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account data, scripts, folders, and recordings from our production systems within 30 days, and they are purged from encrypted backups within 90 days.
Usage and analytics data. Retained in our analytics tooling for as long as it remains useful for understanding product trends, and no longer linked to your account once the account is deleted.
Google user data. Deleted within 7 days of access, as described further below.
Billing and invoice records. Kept for as long as Hungarian tax and accounting law requires, even after an account is deleted.

Deleting your account and your data

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app: go to Settings, then Delete account. This removes your account together with your scripts, folders, and recordings, and it cannot be undone.

If you cannot reach that screen, or you would prefer us to do it for you, email support@teleprompter.com from the address on the account. We will carry out the deletion and confirm when it is done.

Third-party services we use

We rely on a small number of providers to run the service. They process data only on our instructions.

Google Cloud and Firebase, and DigitalOcean. Hosting, authentication, databases, and file storage.
Webflow. Hosting of our marketing website at teleprompter.com.
Apple App Store, Google Play, and Paddle. Payments, subscriptions, and invoicing.
Mixpanel. Product analytics.
OpenAI and ElevenLabs. AI features. When you use the AI script generator or a voice feature, the text you submit is sent to these providers so they can produce the result. They act as our processors under agreements that do not permit them to use your content to train their models.

Connecting Teleprompter.com to AI assistants

Teleprompter.com offers an integration, consisting of our MCP server and our API, that lets you work with your scripts from inside an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. This is entirely optional and does nothing until you turn it on.

If you do connect it, it is important to understand what that means: the scripts and folders the assistant reads or writes are sent to the AI provider you have chosen. From that point they are handled under that provider's own privacy policy and retention rules, and we cannot control or delete data once it has reached them.

You decide the scope of the access. The integration can request four permissions, and you grant only the ones you want:

scripts:read — read your scripts;
scripts:write — create and edit your scripts;
folders:read — read your folders and their structure;
folders:write — create and edit folders.

You stay in control. You can revoke a connector's authorisation in your AI assistant's settings, or delete the API key at app.teleprompter.com/manage/api-keys. Revoking takes effect immediately and stops any further access.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the site and app are used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, signing in and some other features may stop working properly.

How we protect your information

Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS and TLS, and your data is stored with the infrastructure providers listed above, which encrypt data at rest. Access to production data is limited to the staff who need it in order to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these measures seriously and review them as the product changes.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it exported, or have it deleted. You can also object to marketing at any time. Email support@teleprompter.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority; ours is the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).

Access to Google user data

If you sign in with Google, our app can display the YouTube channels connected to your Google account and let you live stream to YouTube. We request only the permissions needed for those features and do not share this data with anyone else.

We retain Google user data only as long as necessary for those features. All Google user data our app accesses is deleted within 7 days of first access, or sooner on request. You can revoke our access at any time in your Google account settings.

Do Not Track

There is no agreed industry standard for responding to browser Do Not Track signals, so we do not currently change what we collect based on them. You can limit collection through your browser's cookie settings.

Children

Teleprompter.com is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email support@teleprompter.com and we will delete it.

Selling of data and advertising

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not display third-party advertising inside Teleprompter.com.

California residents

You can browse teleprompter.com without creating an account. This privacy policy is linked from the footer of every page and includes the word Privacy. If we change the policy we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell you by email. You can review and change your personal information at any time by signing in to your account. California residents may also request access to, or deletion of, their personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.

Email and the CAN-SPAM Act

We use your email address to send account and service notices, to respond to enquiries, and, if you have opted in, to send occasional product news. We do not use false or misleading subject lines or sender addresses, we identify marketing messages as such, we include our postal address, and we honour unsubscribe requests promptly. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email support@teleprompter.com to be removed from all marketing correspondence.

If something goes wrong

Should a data breach affect your personal information, we will notify you by email within 7 business days of becoming aware of it, in addition to any notification required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. The current version is always on this page, with the Last updated date at the top. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app.
